Billy Edmond is a Dallas area artist and has been a wood sculptor for more than 40 years. His specialty is creating natural wood sculptures that combine African cultural influences with his vivid imagination and distinctive style. Edmond is also a talented painter and photographer.

Even before he fully understood the concept of art, Edmond was making art from whatever he could get his hands on. As a child, he created art pieces from recycled items and scraps that he foraged from his uncles wreckibg yard. He learned art basics from his elementary school art teacher and fondly remembers how she taught him to create a variety of colors from mixing a few. Edmond studied photography at El Centro College but continued to nurture his curiosity about other art forms by interacting with other art students and watching them create. Edmond stumbled upon his calling as a professional wood sculptor after college when a stranger noticed the tiny wood carving with a face painted on it dangling from his key ring. When he learned that Edmond carved the ornament from a piece of tree branch, he offered to buy it. Weeks later, the man ordered ten more pieces and from there, Edmonds business was born. Edmond has created thousands of carvings over the years, from key ring ornaments, neck pieces and Adinkra symbols, colorful walking sticks, to vibrant busts and abstract sculptures that sell briskly at art festivals and expos and attracts commissions from high end art collectors who follow his work. Edmond's sculptures compelled renowned visual artist Frank Frazier to invite him oh exhibit trips to expose his work to larger audiences.

Edmonds Artifacts have sold out at historic events such as Million-man March, the Congressional Black Caucus annual conferences and events surrounding both presidential inaugurations of Barack Obama. He cherishes the luxury of working on multiple projects simultaneously and strives to produce quality pieces that reflect his artistic vision.
