Carmen Cartiness Johnson is a painter and a storyteller. Songs, poems, and proverbs, as well as novels and movies help provide inspiration for Carmen to create. Carmen’s goal is to give the viewer situations to which they can relate. Carmen developed a signature theme of faceless images allowing viewers to cross racial lines placing themselves into the situation on canvas. The majority of Carmens work is done using acrylic paint. Carmen Cartiness Johnson is an award winning and Library of Congress inducted artist whose work has been shown in dozens of respected museums throughout the United States.
