Darryl Demps, Jr., is a multi-media creative based in Austin, TX. His work combines painting, wood-carving, and photography to express his experiences and inspirations from life. With an emphasis on color, Demps aims to capture the energy of the subject matter - whether that be inspired by a person, memory, or feeling. Darryl is currently a member at ContraCommon, where he creates art in his personal studio.
The most notable one that carries into today is his roller-skating. He has competed, performed, held workshops and classes, and even makes artistic videos revolving skating.
He began his art journey at Texas State University where he double majored in Graphic Design and Painting. He finished with his BFA in Studio Arts in 2018. Shortly after, he began working as an artist assistant for Gil Bruvel where he learned the ropes of what it takes to be a successful artist.
In 2022, Demps transitioned to working as a full-time artist, so that he could build his own career. Demps is now a member at Contracommon where he creates, collabs, and hosts art workshops. He still skates, just for fun though, as he's more focused on pursuing his art career.
